the biology department had their budget cut and the first thing to go were all but 6 ta positions for masters students. i don't know how the hell everything will function with so few tas, but with that cut went my financial aid. i emailed the financial aid guru to see if there was another way to fund the first year of a masters degree but the program director told me to speak with professors who had recently been awarded research grants, they could pay my tuition for me to be their grad student, or hire me as a tech, which i should be able to get a tuition waiver for, but i don't know how to market myself to the professors in my department. i have a high gpa and research experience but how the hell do i ask them if they will pay for me to go to school? i have two professors in mind, potentially 3, but still.

i should also find out if i could go to school part time for a year, he made it sound like a could get funding for the 2010-2011 school year.

i really need a set life plan instead of just doing whatever seems convenient at the time.

i very much enjoy things in the health care field, but everything is so expensive/competitive schooling wise and the things that aren't don't pay as well at all. i very much enjoy the rush of having something's/someone's life in my hands and the satisfaction of saving said life. but, i don't have the money to spend on vet school, it is really expensive and there is very little aid available, the same goes for med school. ugh.

i wish someone would just tell me what to do already. i am going to apply to vet's offices, with my biology degree and past experience i should be able to assist at least, as long as someone is hiring.

someone just tell me what to do with my life, please.

on a happier note, herpetology starts monday and i am excited! paco is awesome and herpetology is general is awesome.

my histo website is down, noooo. how am i supposed to study now? this is how he told me to study, so i am lost.

i just spent over 4 hours looking at slides with mike, during that time our ta came in the room and offered to let us use her slide box to study.. she had the slides out on a piece of blotting paper (from using oil on them).. so those slides are either on the practice practical or the real one, hope it's the real one.

but since my site is down, i think it is time to play sims 3 instead of study. yaaaaay.

last day of class is friday, even more yay.

and it is storming, so more yay to that too, i love storms and watching storms from the 6th floor = win.

is it terrible that i am going to go to get my masters so i can keep avoiding the real world?

the benefits of grad school:
i still get cheap birth control
i can avoid paying back student loans
i would get paid about twice as much as i make now to be a TA and work an extra 8-10 hours in the library
i don't have to try to find a new/real job
i don't have to try to move back to columbus with a car that can't go more than 20 minutes without overheating

sounds like a plan to me. also, grad school will be free and i'll get the ta job, so, that's pretty convincing. i just hope i don't have to keep dr. bagatto as my advisor, i hate him so much. maybe paco will take me on since i am familiar with zebrafish and am taking herpetology with him this summer.

who knows, i'm just happy to avoid the real world as long as possible.

and the ta position would mean i could get a way nicer apartment, mel was telling me about her apartment and it sounds really nice. the 1 bedroom is slightly pricier though, if i stay here rent will be $600 and rent in her building for a 1 bedroom is $665. buuut, the apartment is waaay bigger, ours is 611 sq. ft. and the other one is 1000! plus, it has a dishwasher, is closer to school, has central AC, and free laundry.

sounds like a plan to me.

i'm pretty sure i lack whatever genes are necessary to adequately run my life. actually, i'm pretty sure i lack a lot of genes needed for lots of basic human functions and what not. hm.

it is way easier to blame genetics than myself.

220 pages to go before bed? i don't think so. who the hell decided that testing from the textbook is a good idea? i mean, seriously, if you can't teach me everything i need to know during lecture, then you shouldn't expect me to know it. every class i have had until this point has only had a textbook that was really meant to be used to help explain lecture material, so i never read any of my texts because there was no need. as i am reading the book, his lectures are extremely vague in comparison to the text, i think i should be worried.

and 40+ pages on epithelium? seriously?

i am cranky, tired, and need a shower.

sooo.. i have a paid week off from work(more like 10 days, really) and i am trying to think of things to do. i already plan on making some fun cooking thing(like this lemon garlic pasta and german potato salad) since i usually eat like crap. but other than that, i'm not sure what to do. sleep, of course, and work on some games but eeeeh, i feel like i should accomplish more.

i just know that i'm not going to do anything and then be pissed that i wasted my paid week off.

and getting paid to listen to my ipod and play my dsi is still amazing.

it is NOT my job to google a synopsis of a book for you because you have a paper due this week and didn't bother even trying to check out your book until 12:40am the night before the paper is due. what are you looking for? sparknotes? i did google your stupid book and a magical summary did not pop-up, sorry. yelling about how i don't know how to do my job isn't going to help you, either.
